 오늘 소개할 곡은 미국에서 1993년에 방영된 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers(마이티 몰핀 파워레인저스...? 우리나라에선 무적 파워레인저란 제목으로 94년에 방영되었었던 작품입니다)의 오프닝 테마 곡 입니다.

 이 노래의 특징이라면 다소 유치한 가사와 훌륭한 보컬, 미친듯한 기타 속주...의 조합이 되겠습니다. 특히 후반부의 기타 솔로....당신 누구야...

보컬은 에릭 마틴(가명으로 참가), 드럼은 맷 소럼.....허허. 물론 오리지날이라 할 수 있는 일본의 슈퍼전대 시리즈와는 타겟으로 삼은 연령층이 좀 다르고 애니메이션 주제곡이든 전대물 주제곡이든 노래가 고퀄이면 안된다 그런건 편견이죠. 근데 이 가사와 노래의 언밸런스가....허허.

 한국에선 가사를 적당히 번안한 번안곡으로 오프닝을 내놨었습니다. 당시 어린이들에게 선풍적인 인기를 끌었던 것으로 기억합니다. 그 때 생각을 하다보니 이거 장난감 사달라고(아마 영실업에서 내놨던 걸로 기억하는데?) 어머니에게 떼를 써댔던게 기억나네요. 아 부끄럽네요.

 아무튼 지금도 기억에 남는 노래입니다. 다음에는 한국에서 만든 애니메이션 주제곡(애니메이션을 한국에서 만들었다는 게 아닙니다)을 다뤄볼까 싶기도 하네요.
